Friday Favorites - Jimmy Needham

Ok friends, I'm trying a new link up. I know how these things go... I'll do this week after week and no one will join me. Well, maybe someday. Don't worry, I'm not feeling sorry for myself. I thought this would be a great way to go into the weekend focusing on some of the big and little ways that God blesses my life. And how could I not invite you to do the same? {I'm even gonna get a button for it. I know, fancy.} So what are your Friday Favorites? It can be anything, a food, a favorite blog post, a memory, a miracle. C'mon, share it! You know you want to!

For my first Friday Favorite I'm going with music. The Lord put music in my heart when I was a very little girl. I've been singing all my life and music is pretty much playing in the house all the time. So here is my current favorite song.

"Hurricane" by Jimmy Needham

I wish I could figure out how to play it on my blog but I can't find it anywhere to add to my playlist. For anyone just joining my blog, I am completely techno challenged. I absolutely LOVE this song! Maybe too much because my kids have asked me to take it off of "repeat". Well since you can't hear it, here are the lyrics:

I have built a city here,
half with pride and half with fear,
I just wanted a safer place to hide,
I don't want to be safe tonight.

I need you like a hurricane,
thunder crashing, wind and rain,
to tear my walls down, I'm only yours now.
I need you like a burning flame,
a wildfire untamed, to burn these walls down,
I'm only yours now, I'm only yours now.

I am yours and you are mine,
you know far better than I,
and if destruction is what I need,
then I'll receive it Lord from thee,
yes I'll receive it Lord from thee.

I need you like a hurricane,
thunder crashing, wind and rain,
to tear my walls down, I'm only yours now.
I need you like a burnin' flame,
a wildfire untamed, to burn these walls down,
I'm only yours now, I'm only yours now.

And it's your eye in the storm,
watching over me,
and it's your eye in the storm,
wanting only good for me.
And if you are the war,
let me be a casualty until I'm yours alone,
I am only yours, I am yours alone,

I need you like a hurricane,
thunder crashing, wind and rain,
to tear my walls down, I'm only yours now.
I need you like a burnin' flame,
a wildfire untamed, to burn these walls down,
I'm only yours now, I'm only yours now.

I'm sure you can see why I love it. The lyrics are so powerful and speak to exactly how I've been feeling lately. I'm so thankful for the gift of music that can truly touch the soul.
Have a blessed weekend!

Hi there...great song. I'm going to go look it up somewhere so I can listen to it. How fun that you in Santa Clarita. I used to live there and now am in granada hills. (Bakersfield was a temporary thing)

Hi Jaime! Happy Friday! My Friday favorite today is the reminders that spring is coming! From the exceptionally warm weather here in the Mid-Atlantic, to the beginnings of blooming Cherry blossoms. There is an end to the winter! To sum it up, there is a quote by Albert Camus that has carried me through many a tough time, "In the depths of winter I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer". And with that, here is the link to my blog post today with a pic of the cherry trees outside my work...

(sorry, had to edit for a misspelling!)
