Fathers are Chosen

Fathers are chosen by God to lead their families in strength, wisdom and love.

I can remember praying my hubby would take more of a leadership role in the spiritual aspects of our home. I found myself becoming impatient and wondering if it would ever happen.  Watching him do a devotional with the kids is a perfect reminder that God's timing is perfect. He has grown into a true man of God who is able to lead our home in a way that glorifies God. Is he perfect? Of course not, and perfection is not asked. A heart for leading your family to love the Lord and serve Him is all that is required. Only God can prepare our husbands for this role and had I pushed him to meet my expectations it would never had worked. It is not for me to decide how my hubby fills his role as leader of the home. It is my job to love him, support him, respect him and pray for him. God answered my prayer because it was His will, not mine.  To watch him pour his love on them while they study God's word and pray is more than I could have ever imagined, but isn't that what God does?

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

Linking up here today.

What a sweet picture! I too wonder when I'll get it through my head that God is working on things that I can't even see or imagine...guess I ought to work on being less controlling and just let Him do His thing...it's a better plan than I'd come up with anyways.

I can relate...until I stopped pressuring my husband and surrendered him over to God, He didn't spiritually lead our household. Now I couldn't be happier with his leadership..just proves God knows best =)

Great post. How encouraging to hear how God taught your husband how to become the spiritual leader in your home. He is the great teacher ;)

What a beautiful photo, Jami! I am glad to have found your newer blog. Great to see that you're attending Titus 2, as well. I attended for a couple of years and it was such a rich season of growing in the Lord and learning to respect my husband.

What a beautiful post! Have you seen movies like Fireproof, Facing the Giants put out by Sherwood Pictures? If not, you need to! Theyre Christian based family films that are challenging men to step up and be the men God has called them to be. And their next one, Courageous, is coming out in September of this year! Im so darned excited I cant stand it. This next one is specifically about fatherhood.
Hubby and I already have that night set as a date night and his mom is babysitting our girls. Funny we have a date night set so far in advance:)
XO,
Sarah
