On Wednesday I went to the horse races in Del Mar with some dear friends. It was so fun! I didn't bet on anything but I still picked some horses and proceeded to cheer them on at the top of my lungs. And we we don't mess around. We got all dolled up...dresses, high heels and yes, BIG HATS. My friend Lori, one of my very favorite people in the world, planned the whole day. Isn't she gorgeous? I know!
The second best thing at the races was the french fried green beans with wasabi mayonnaise. Hello! Yes please!
I spent a little time making some new cards. These are for a friend but some will be up in the shop soon. I'm loving all the new papers that are out right now.
I'm not much of a "flowers" girl. I finally convinced my hubby to stop buying me flowers on Valentine's Day. It only took 13 years. I will admit that when I saw these at Trader Joe's my heart skipped a beat. I just love Trader Joe's!
I think I can just stop buying toys because the only thing this little one wants is the remote control. And not just any remote control, only the one that actually operates the TV. I've tried giving her an old one but she's not falling for it. Smarty pants!

I love the horse races but I must admit, I do bet. Last time we went I won almost $300.00. We don't go often but do usually try to go on KY Derby Day anyway. I'm from Kentucky BTW. Your hats are soooo cute :)
The races looked liked SO much FUN!
And french fried green beans. Really??? May just have to try those myself!
Happy Weekend!
Rebecca
you're cute. that's all. oh, and i love you friend :) happy friday!!
I love the races. I don't bet either. I would never win If I did. Ha.ha. I haven't been to Del Mar but I am dying to go. We always goto Santa Anita. Big hat are a must!
Loving that she wants only the remote that works. Ha.ha smartie for sure.
xxO
The hats are perfect! And...none of our remote controls have the panels protecting the batteries, because...well...my kiddos also loved remotes, and would pop off the back panels and then lose them. Now I'm always looking for the batteries as they fall out all the time. And, oddly enough, I don't mind. Sure, I could buy new remotes, or even put tape on the back to hold in the batteries...but, what fun is that?!
Looks like fun! Those fried green beans? Yes. Those new cards? Gorgeous.
Wasabi mayonaise?!?! I'm intrigued.... Sounds like a fun outing!
We went a few weeks ago, too, for the first time. Soo fun! No big hat though :( no one else from our group was doing it so I guess I chickened out. Mostly, I totally can't believe you were down here and I didn't get to see you! What is that about? ;)
i love love love your blog! everything is perfect! have a great weekend!
We live so close to the Del Mar races, yet we've never been. Good for you for rockin' the fab hat!
How how fun! I've never been to a horse race before...or trader joe's for that matter.
I'm not a flower person either. I told my hubby never to buy them for me. Ha! I'm glad I'm not the only one!
That sounds so fun to get all dressed up and go to the races!! I too LOVE Trader Joe's. It's funny how they all seem to know which remote is the "good" one ;)
Happy Weekend to You!!
You are so cute in your big hat! My Lily P loves the remote too. She just learned to get the back off and take out batteries and it is driving me nuts! :)
i want to be fancy at the races with you!!!
have you had the crispy green beans at pf changs? omg.
can't wait to order more cards! holla!

we go to the horse races probably once a year and i love it :) i love picking horses based on their names, putting in my little $2 bets and watching those ponies run their hearts out! ha. btw, my kids LOVE the movie secretariat if you haven't seen it.
Popped over from Instagram Friday. You have such a lovely blog. The hats make the day, I say. It looks like you had a great time at the races.
i love the races and big floppy hats. SO FUN. :)
and those flowers look GORGEOUS.
i do love flowers.
and trader joes is the BEST place to get them. :)
Visiting from Life Rearranged :) Lovin' those hats! Great photos. We are getting a Trader's Joes in the Dallas area soon. I can't wait!
Those hats are to die for!! I am totally reminded of Pretty Woman!! I am kind of jealous, too... I'd love an excuse to wear a hat like that! I'll bet you had so much fun cheering the horses on.
Beautiful cards. I love to handmake cards, too...it always seems to mean more than store-bought. Not to mention store bought cards cost like $5 nowadays.
Oh, and French Friend anything sounds good to me! ;0)
Love your pictures! Looks like you had an amazing time. I am from San Diego- born & raised- and just moved out of state for the first time! We miss San Diego SO much! Glad I can live through you vicariously :)
Del Mar sounds like so much fun! I've driven by a million times but have never been. Looks like you had a great week!
