We Encourage - A Big God

Tank + Tink

My Pastor is doing a sermon series titled "A Big God" and it is really challenging me. There are definitely times where I doubt God's ability to solve my problems. It's seems ridiculous even as I type it.
I "know in my head" that no problem is too big for God. My actions, however, sometimes say otherwise.
I worry...
I plan...
I manipulate.

I was reading Psalms and came upon this:
"We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you."
Psalm 33:20-22

I would encourage you {and me} to wait "in hope". When I stop and think about the ways God has moved in my life, I am truly amazed. He has transformed me, my marriage, my finances. He has transformed everything. He walked me through miscarriages and blessed me with 4 beautiful children. He saved my marriage from the brink of destruction and revealed to us how to love each other better.  He has guided me through difficult relationships, helped me let go of others and gifted me with some of the best friends I have ever known.

Of course things aren't perfect. They never will be in this world. But am I truly waiting "in hope"? Am I praying through a situation but secretly thinking, "this is too hard, it's too big for God to fix."? It is much more peaceful to rest in his promise, to trust in his faithfulness.
We are prayng to the God that formed the universe, who spoke us into being, and sent his son to die for us. He has given barren wombs life, food where there is none and light in the darkest of places.

What is too big for him? What is impossible for him?

Nothing.

I want to encourage you to pray with aniticipation and hope for what God can do, not doubt. God's truth and love is unfailing whether an outcome looks the way we hope for it to or not. He has proven this to me over and over again.

"For I know the plans I have for you,"declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-13

Do you believe the Lord's promise in Jeremiah?

I do.

Now let's act like it.

Beautiful post, Jami! Yes, I fail to remember that God can work in ANY situation. Why do we stop praying for miracles? And for me, sometimes I tend to think that a situation is too trivial for a miracle. If someone's not dying, then the situation isn't big enough. But isn't God just as capable of and willing to do little miracles as big ones?

Linked up today. :)

First time visitor to your blog. Awesome post! Will be coming back more often! I too am waiting...with doubt and fear...but I'm trying to learn to wait with hope. Powerful verses. Why is it we feel like by us worrying and fearing, we are controlling the situation when we just need to sit back and let GOD do the planning. He is the one in control. Not me. Thanks for this thought provoking post.

Beautiful post Jami! I am a bit of a worry wart and a whole lot of impatient (boths things I am working very hard at) so I have to step back and realize that I can't fix all our problems, but He can in his time! What an awesome God we serve.

I know this is an older post, but I read it back then and them promptly forgot the reference for that verse in Psalms. It's been bothering me for DAYS now, I kept thinking I should've written it down!! What an amazing verse, and definitely something I need to remember. Thanks for sharing!
