Lovely Little Moments

I love the little moments when no one knows I'm watching. I was so happy to catch J laying down with my first baby, Chief.

I've been feeling very sentimental about Chief lately. He is 12 1/2 so I think we all know what that means. He is such a sweet dog and the kids adore him!

N is not quite so sentimental. A few days ago Chief got out and began trotting {do dogs trot?} down the driveway. It was raining and I had just gotten baby C out of the car. So I ran down the driveway, in the rain, umbrella in one hand, baby in the other, tryng to throw the umbrella at the dog to stop him. Throwing the umbrella was necessary because of course he is completely deaf so he had no idea I was chasing him.
When we finally got everyone back in the house N simply stated, "whew, we need a new dog!"

Don't worry Chief, we aren't ready to replace you just yet. You are still lovely to me.

We have a Chief too. He is a 5 year old golden retriever, but I know what you mean by 'first baby' we also have a nearly deaf 12 1/2 year old Lhasa Apso. It's hard to watch them age....when I look at him it reminds me that we could have kids that old had we gotten started right away! HA!

Chief looks a lot like my parents' dog Raiderette, and he's about the same age. I love how black labs get the white on their faces as they age. So cute!

I love that first picture, so precious.
I don't have any dogs and never thought I wanted one... but now that I think about it I just *know* that if I did have one I would become so attached to it that it would become like a child to me.. and I would be devastated if something happend to it. So, I play it safe and enjoy my neighbors dogs instead :I
