Make a Change

We all have them. That relationship, that habit, that situation.

The one we know we need to change but haven't had the courage.
Or maybe it feels easier, somehow simpler to leave things the way they are.

"I don't want to hurt anyone"
"I'm not sure I can give that up"
"What if I'm making the wrong decision"

It's fear.
Fear of the unknown.
Fear of being misunderstood.
Fear of making a mistake.
Fear of losing a relationship.

Christ has not given us a spirit of fear. Fear can paralyze. When we bring whatever "it" is to the Lord in prayer, when we are acting on truth and love, we don't need to be fearful.

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the spirit of Sonship. Romans 8:15

I've read this verse many times. But recently it struck me in a new way. The word "slave" convicted me. I want to serve the Lord, not be a slave to or held back by fear.

I want to encourage you this week...what changes do you need to make?
Are you stuck in something because of fear?
And then make a change.
I know change can be hard, it can be scary.
But sometimes it is necessary.
Nothing is impossible with God.

So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper;I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Hebrews 13:6

ooo so good. this does speak to me too, the part about being a slave, fear is SuCH slavery...one that held me captive for lots of years. and while free from such strong chains of it, it is still a battle daily to believe God over lies. and it IS because we are SONS that we get to live in the freedom He desires...Praise God. This has me thinking, about what/who fear is still holding me back from. Thanks girl. love you!

I've battled fear lately: of not living up to what God wants in my speaking, not being able to do a good job etc etc. Yet, He does give us all we need to do His work and fear is a lack of trusting him HIM.

Thanks for sharing those verses today! Definitely lots of change going on in my family right now...good changes, but still requiring acceptance of His plan in it all!!
I think I will write Hebrews 13:6 down and put it on my dresser :)

Beautiful thoughts. You really spoke to my heart today. I am making changes in my life in how I approach and look at life. I am learning to handle myself and my heart with the gentle grace that God calls us to offer each other...and ourselves. Your words are a beautiful confirmation. thank you!

This is my first time linking up with your party and I can't wait to check out the other blogs!
Growing in His Grace,

Mary Joy
