She looks annoying doesn't she?
Well she keeps telling me what a good job I'm doing and I just hate to disappoint her.
Of course I realize that a workout routine would be much more likely to succeed if I could get out of the house. You know, away from the couch, the computer and the food pantry.
Unfortunately right now that just isn't going to happen so here is what I endured to feel a little healthier today.
At worst this little helper practically sat on my head any time I was doing a floor exercise.
At best she stuck her nose in my ear.
This little helper did not appreciate the woman on the video who was wearing very short shorts and only a sports bra.
Apparently modesty is very important to her.
She spent the whole 1/2 hour yelling "naked!" at the TV in a very disapproving tone.
So here is the bottom line. It's going to be hard. I don't like doing it. The same way I don't like thinking about the food I eat. I mean if I want to eat a sleeve of Oreos who is this ap to tell me I can't?!
But I want to be healthy. I want to have energy, and I want my kids to see that their parents think it is important to be active. Hubby takes care of that on his side in the form of an obsession with mountain biking {ok not really an obsession, but still. So rude of him to get all healthy without me}.
Luckily I have some wonderful bloggy friends who are coming along side me, encouraging me and inspiring me {and making me laugh til it hurts, you know who you are}. We are in this together.
Here is my true heart,
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship.
Romans 12:1
I spend a lot of time in other areas of my life. Prayer, keeping my home, being a wife and a mother. The truth is I put basically no time into my body and my health and I know that is not what God wants for me.
So here I go.
Not because I want to.
Only out of obedience.
Any tips you want to share?

My tip is have fun, if you like it you will stick with it :)
i've done some denise austin videos before. I remember one of the she was talking about an exercise where you had to squeeze your butt muscles and she said if you don't squeeze them no one else will. : ) cheesy of course but I did like her videos. Have you done any jillian micheals ones? Like the 30 day shred or 6 weeks six pack. I do those often and even though I have to mute her sometimes they are good!
ugh.. i gotta get back to this too. Although i do walk every day. Puppy keeps me accountable with that one.:) But ohmygoodness little one saying naked to the t.v. was cracking me up. I love it!
such an amazing encouragement. i started working out yesterday after a 10 month lull. i ate like a junk food pig all day afterwards, but at least i started somewhere. hilarious about your daughter yelling "naked!"--and yes, denise austin is a overly positive annoying coach.. i used to work out to her all the time.. i dont know if i want to kick her or thank her.. =)
Loving this post today! And laughing so hard thinking about the dog sticking his nose in your ear and your sweet little girl yelling "naked" at the TV. I also have an affinity for oreos. They are dangerous and will be eaten in likely less than 24 hours at our house. Pitiful but true. I bought Zumba Fitness yesterday and I told my husband that I'm going to eat nothing but junk until it arrives and then Zumba is going to change his wife! Ha! Good luck to us both!

GO GIRL!
working out with elijah around is quite the spectacle and nuisance. so, i don't do it. which means i'll be working out at night. fun.
you are and encouragement to ne, i LOVE you xo
Try the 4-minute workout ;) Only half joking. I do 4 minutes a day of "tabata training" or "tabata protocol." It's 20-second high intensity exercises with 10-second breaks in between. I guess the real point is find something you actually enjoy. I used to do P90X every morning; but I quit because I just couldn't see myself making a lifetime habit of it. But yoga, 4-minute exercising and daily walks with the family? I can see those as lifetime habits :)
Good Luck! It will get better. I am getting back on the exercising band wagon as well today! I really like the Biggest Loser workouts, riding a stationary bike & there is a 10 minute Kickboxing video on Netflix that is awesome.
Just have fun with it and don't think of it as a chore. :)
So proud for you, it's not easy to do this exercise thing (especially as a mom I'm finding out). But it is indeed important for you and for them so I'm wishing you the best. It certainly helps to have good friends supporting you!
I'm with you on this! I am trying to get in shape & sometimes it's just not fun. Plus I love oreos way too much. who knew how many calories were in those stinkin things?!
I got the link to your blog from danielle's email & I sent you an invite to read mine (since it's private while we are going through the adoption process).
xo.
Hooray for Jami! Good girl!
I just wrote a post about some of my food journey over the last few months. Isn't is such a pain practicing self-control over our fleshly desires? :) Painful, but good. Great job going public with your exercise journey. I hope you'll keep us posted!
Mkay. I am not the bloggy friend encouraging you, clearly. I might make you laugh a lot though. But seriously...I am about to go get a chocolate peanut butter bar from the fridge... Also, I'm nursing? I'm giving myself two months to let my insides heal and then I'll be hitting you up for tips.
i am kind of obsessed with my fitness pal. but i wouldn't say pal is a very accurate word. more like my fitness pain in my bigger than i want it to be rear.
and i love your exercise assistant. she's cute. and modest is hottest.
Working out in front of Ashlynn was a joke. She saw me in pain and would start crying. Not kidding. Then she would try to copy me and I would die laughing. It was pointless.
Your daughter's reaction was so cute!! But, my dog does the same thing if I try to exercise at home. One situp and I have a face full of doggie nose! :)
oh my Lord, jami.
you are hysterical!
i love your heart in it all though.
i have to keep in prayer about what i eat, a lot!
i keep in mind that i want to eat to live, not live to eat.
also, i love turbo jam! it is so fun!
you should try it...:)
you make me laugh. and so does your cute little lady.
love that we're buddies in all this!!
I started a fitness and health journal of my own... learning self discipline and I have lost over 25 pounds in the last 3 1/2 months... Health and obedience to God are my motivation also. I saw your encouraging post and I linked up for the first time with my recent post about doing a plank a day! ouch! :) thanks for hosting
